To get the most out of your Facebook page you have to optimize your presence on this platform.
For more information on how to manage a Facebook profile we suggest taking the free online courses of the Facebook Blueprint tool.
Basics to Get You Started on Facebook
- Create a Business Page: not a personal profile that represents your brand. A business page resembles personal profiles, but has exclusive tools for companies and organizations.
For example: your followers can like the page to see updates in their news section, that is not possible with personal profiles. If you already use a personal profile for commercial use, convert it to a business page as soon as possible.
- Custom URL for your Page: Once you have created your business page, it will be assigned a random number and URL.
To make your page easier to share and find, you’ll need to create a recognizable custom URL. You can do this directly on your Facebook page in settings.
- Information Section: It is very important to complete all the data because it is one of the first places that people see when they visit your page.
There is a preview to the right of the page, below “about your community”. People can also view the entire section by clicking “See All”. Your website and your business ranking will appear here, as well as a short description. You can specify prices, type of payments, if you are a restaurant you can put the menu, etc.
- Messages: The important thing is to interact and answer questions and messages from your audience (remember they might be your future clients).
If you respond quickly to the majority of users who send you messages, you can get the badge called “high level of response to messages.” You’ll see the badge below the cover photo.
Appearance and Configuration Recommendations
- Cover Photo: The design of the Facebook pages allows you to place an 820 x 312 pixel photo. You will need to capture the attention of new visitors, encourage them to explore your page.
- Profile Picture: Choose a profile photo that your visitors can easily recognize. Maybe your company logo or an image with your face if you are a consultant or have a personal brand.
Being easily recognizable is extremely important. Keep in mind that the dimensions are 180 x 180 pixels (although the photo will be smaller on mobile devices).
- Choose a Call-To-Action Button: You can choose from 5 pre-designed button options (“Make a reservation”, “Contact Us”, “Get more information about our business”, “Make a purchase” or “Download our application or play our game”) and link them to any website that helps your company’s goals.
- Create Custom Tabs on Pages: The default tabs you will see on your page are “Home,” “Photos,” “Information,” “Posts,” and “Community,”.
Facebook allows you to create and use custom tabs. Basically, these resemble landing pages within your Facebook page or calls to action where you can present the information you want, from success stories to marketing offers and other current promotions.
